Kingswood 2016

You may be aware that each year we organise an opportunity for our Year 6 pupils to spend a week away together at a residential centre. For a number of years we have chosen Kingswood Centres in different parts of the country. The reason for this is that they meet our fundamental requirements:-

They are competitively priced for what they offer

  • They are, in our considerable experience, very safe, with good quality instruction.
  • They offer a range of physical pursuits, which are accessible to and enjoyable for all our children.
  • The accommodation and food are of a high standard.

Each year we see the benefit derived by all the children who go, in terms of increased self- confidence and independence. Added to that, they all have a great time. This is not a residential week for the tough and physical. Some of our great successes on Kingswood weeks have been children previously thought of as timid and shy.

Supervision is 24 hours a day by our own staff as well as by Kingswood staff leading the instruction for activities. We always send senior members of our staff as well as a mix of other male and female teachers.

We intend to visit the Overstrand Hall centre in Norfolk in 2015 with your children. I have secured a provisional booking for 55 pupils from Monday 20th June, 2016 to Friday, 24th June, 2016.

You will find details of payment schedules and dates on the sheet attached.

Clearly the cost of the week is considerable. We recognise that meeting the cost can be extremely difficult for many families. If the cost is a major issue in your decision to give permission for your child’s participation, please come and see me. There are ways in which we can help and support you, including arranging payments over longer terms or accessing funding to subsidise costs.

The centres are very popular and are heavily subscribed. I will need to commit the school to a set number of places by the 7th October. A place cannot be reserved and guaranteed for your child until the first deposit of £100 has been received. This deposit will need to be with us not later than the morning of Wednesday 7th October. If this is a problem you please come and have a chat – we can always find a solution. If no contact or communication is made, and no contribution received, then unfortunately no place will be reserved.

We look forward to sharing ‘The Kingswood Experience’ with you, in the meantime you might wish to visit www.kingswood.co.uk to find out more.
