School closed on 2nd March 2018.

Dear Parents and Carers

It is with regret that I have to inform you that Nettleham Church of England Aided Junior School will remain closed tomorrow - Friday 2nd March.

We have not taken this decision lightly and have looked at a range of factors; we love having the children in school and want as little disruption to their learning as possible.

However we have received very clear guidance from Lincolnshire County Council’s Multi Agency Team which was:  "Travel is not recommended unless absolutely necessary." This relates to the public safety aspect of having a large number of vehicles on the road at the same time for the school run. Also we have looked carefully at roads to, in and around Nettleham with this in mind – whilst several are passable we anticipate that they will be very difficult in the morning. Your and the children's safety come first.

At the same time we have had to assess whether or not we can adequately staff the school given the travel problems that it looks like a number of our staff may face tomorrow.

Additionally we will struggle to provide services such as hot school meals and the desired standard of health and safety of the school site.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience that this may cause you, but I hope that you understand the rationale for this difficult decision.

With very best wishes

David Gibbons
