Ofsted Inspection March 2014

The Ofsted report on our school has been published.

Here is a message from Simon Hardy, our Chair of Governors:

You'll no doubt be aware that the school had an Ofsted inspection on 19th and 20th March 2014.  The inspection team's final report is published on the Ofsted website http://www.ofsted.gov.uk/inspection-reports/find-inspection-report/provider/ELS/120626  and is also available to download at the bottom of this page.

The overall judgement was very positive and the inspection team deemed that our school remains 'good' in Ofsted terms. The key judgement, in our eyes, is that the provision for our children and the progress they make in the core subjects of English and Maths is at least good and in some cases outstanding. The inspectors recognised the excellent work across the curriculum that is a feature of life at our school, the excellent behaviour and safety in school and positive leadership and management; governors know, as I'm sure you do, that this is the case throughout the year, not just when Ofsted inspectors visit.

Governors were a little disappointed that, in some areas of the report, the inspectors made what we thought were disproportionate judgements about the whole school based on limited evidence.  Nevertheless, we recognise that there is always room for improvement in whatever we do and we will continue to strive for excellence. Whilst governors acknowledge that the overall 'good' judgement is a fair reflection of where the school stands in Ofsted terms we firmly believe that high quality education is about so much more than Ofsted chooses to measure.

In closing I'd like to pay tribute to the continuing hard work, dedication and enthusiasm of Mr Gibbons and the school staff.  I'd also like to thank you for the support you give, not only to your individual child's education, but also to the wider life and work of the school.  Last, but by no means least, a big thank you to those brilliant ambassadors for the school - your children.

We look forward to an exciting summer term.

Yours sincerely,

Simon Hardy

Chair of Governors
