Spring News

It finally feels fresher and lighter outside after a (relatively) warm but wet and dark winter. Change is in the air, we begin to look forward to interesting and sensational spring and summer events ahead and our Year 6 finally have confirmation of their secondary school places…daunting but exciting.

We’re really looking forward to seeing you all at the parents evenings, parent education evenings and PTA social events over the coming two months.

Charity events

We do appreciate your generosity with regard to our charity events throughout the year. Thank you for your support with Foodbank Friday our next collection is on May 6th. Please try to spare just one or two items for this worthy cause.

We also have a range of events planned for Sports Relief on Friday 18th March which are:

  1. Having a non-uniform day (cost of £1)
  2. Sponsored mile race for those children who would like to take part on the afternoon of 18th March. Children can complete the mile by running, jumping, hopping or any other creative (but practical) way they can think of.
  3. At 3.30pm a cake sale in the playground

We are in the middle of a very busy period in terms of sports events and activities.

Our cross country teams have begun their latest round of league cross country races with both teams well set to at least achieve top three finishes…if not better! We look forward also to our sports hall athletics team doing themselves and our school proud at the county finals on Monday 14th March.

Please support our PTA activities

We have three fantastic events coming up – first our Easter Egg tableaux competition this Wednesday 23rd March. We are really looking forward to seeing the wonderful entries!

Secondly the PTA Family Talent Show is taking place on the second Friday after the Easter holidays – 22nd April…which gives you lots of time to start rehearsing your amazing act.

Start of the School Day & Absences

I would like to remind you that the school day begins at 8.55am and that all children need to be on the school site at that time, but no earlier than 8.45am.  Also, if your child is unable to attend school for any reason it important that you ring or email school on the first morning of his/her absence.

Thank you for your support for school uniform – the children look smart and ready to learn! Can I remind you that all children with long hair should have it tied back and that nail varnish is not to be worn at school?

Photographer in School

The photographer will be in school on Thursday, 18th April at 1.30 p.m. to take Class and Team photographs.  Please could you ensure your child is in full school uniform and has any PE Kit/Team Kit with them?

Our Year 6 children are about to embark on one of the more arduous periods of their life with us as they look toward their SATs – Monday 9th May 2016 – Thursday 12th May 2016. It is always vital that the children are well rested and in school in good time, but essential that this is the case during the next few months. We are only too happy to discuss ever-changing assessment methods with you and very keen to ensure that they are used to plan the next steps in the children are learning.

Kingswood Balance

Can I please remind parents of Year Six pupils that the balance for Kingswood is due by the end of the month?

With very best wishes

David Gibbons
