World Book Day 2025

Sharing the love of reading
We are really looking forward to World Book day next week on Thursday 6th March.
Our plan, we hope, is very simple:
Children are invited to come dressed as a character from any story they have heard/read - the choice is theirs with no pressure on them.
Our theme for the day is ‘Comics and Catwalks’ which we’ll explain further.
Children will be registered as usual, then come into our hall for our introductory assembly where we will explain the plan for the morning’s task. We are asking the children to create a comic based upon a story they have read/heard, it can be the whole story or just a section. The children will work on their comic up until 11.30am when they will be invited back into the hall.
At 11.30am, we’ll begin by asking each teacher to share a couple of fantastic examples of comics that have been made.
We’ll then move on to our costume catwalk. The idea is that each class will be invited up in turn and the children will walk up and down, in groups of 3, to show off their costume. Of course, no child will be forced to take part and anyone uncomfortable with this can opt out.
We love these days when children can engage in fun activities to really boost their love of learning and will be sharing photos with families of the wonderful comics created.
