This week we would really like you to focus on learning how to tell the time using an analogue clock (a clock face with hands). Normally we would carry out an assessment to see what stage to start with your child and then set activities accordingly. Since this is not possible, we are asking parents to help us to make this judgement and then decide which work to set. Most of your children will be confident at telling the time ‘past the hour’ but struggle with time ‘to the hour’. We have included a large clock face with the two hands that you can cut out and move around the clock face. We would use the following website to create our worksheets https://www.math-aids.com/Time/. It is fantastic! It allows you to go on and tailor a worksheet to the needs of your child whether it be to tell the time to the nearest half hour or to the nearest minute. It also allows you to create sheets where you have to work out how much time has passed. PLEASE DON’T FEEL YOU HAVE TO PRINT THE SHEETS OFF. Your child can learn from the screen and discussing time with you is so much more valuable! Even ten minutes a day will help. This link will send you to some interactive games about time https://www.topmarks.co.uk/Search.aspx?q=time |
