New Book Legacy Project

Leave your mark. Inspire future readers. Create a Book Legacy.

Introducing The Book Legacy

We are delighted to launch The Book Legacy, a special fundraising initiative that gives families the opportunity to leave a lasting mark on our school while helping to inspire a love of reading in future generations.

Books have the power to spark imagination, build knowledge and open doors to endless possibilities. As part of our commitment to providing the very best reading opportunities for our children, we are raising funds to purchase new books for our library and classrooms.

For a donation of £5, you can sponsor a new book and become part of our school's story. In recognition of your generosity, a personalised bookplate will be placed inside one of our newly purchased books, creating a permanent record of your family's contribution.

Each sponsored book will include a dedication such as:

"This book forms part of The Book Legacy and was generously sponsored by the Smith Family."

or

"Part of The Book Legacy – sponsored by Aisha in Year 4."

Long after your child has moved on, their name will remain inside the book, becoming part of a collection that will be read, enjoyed and treasured by countless pupils in the years ahead. Through The Book Legacy, families have the opportunity to create something enduring—a gift that will continue to benefit children at our school for generations.

Our Ambitious Goal

Our aim is to raise £2,500 to transform and enrich our reading provision across the school. This funding will allow us to purchase hundreds of high-quality new books, including exciting fiction, engaging non-fiction, poetry, graphic novels and books that reflect the diverse interests and experiences of our pupils.

A revitalised collection will help ensure that every child can discover books that inspire curiosity, build confidence and foster a lifelong love of reading.

While our initial target is £2,500, we are ambitious and hope to exceed this through the generosity of our school community, local businesses and supporters.

We are delighted to share that we have already raised £100 towards our target and are excited to continue building momentum with the support of our school community.

Could Your Employer Help?

As well as individual sponsorships, we are also seeking support through matched giving and community funding schemes.

Many employers offer programmes that match donations made by employees or provide grants to support local schools and community projects. In some cases, a £5 book sponsorship could be doubled, and larger fundraising efforts could receive significant additional support at no extra cost to families.

We would be grateful if you could check whether your employer offers:

  • Matched giving or match funding
  • Community grants
  • Charity support programmes
  • Employee volunteering grants
  • Educational sponsorship opportunities

If you think your employer may be able to help, please contact the school office with the name of your employer and any details you may have. We would be delighted to provide further information or a formal funding request.

Supporting The Book Legacy as a Business

We would also love to hear from any local businesses that may be interested in sponsoring books or supporting The Book Legacy through a larger donation.

Business sponsors will also be recognised through a personalised bookplate, creating a lasting record of their contribution to the education and reading journeys of our children. We will also be pleased to acknowledge business support through our newsletters, website and school noticeboard where appropriate.

How to Take Part

We understand that every family's circumstances are different, and participation in The Book Legacy is entirely optional. Whether you choose to sponsor a book, explore matched-funding opportunities through your employer, or simply support our fundraising journey, we are grateful for your continued encouragement and support.

If you would like to sponsor a book, please send your donation to school at your earliest convenience. You can either do this by sending cash into school in a clearly marked envelope or using our Just Giving page here:

https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/nettleham-cofeaidedjuniorschool

Please complete a book legacy sponsorship form (attached to this email) to let us know what you would like written on the bookplate.

To help celebrate our progress, we have a Book Legacy totaliser displayed in the school hall, where children can see how much has been raised so far. We hope this will create excitement and encourage everyone to work together towards our goal.

Together, we can create a rich and inspiring collection of books that will be enjoyed by children not only today, but for many years to come.

We will continue to keep families updated on our progress and look forward to celebrating each milestone along the way.

Thank you for your continued support. Every sponsored book helps build a richer reading environment for our children today while creating a lasting legacy that will remain on our shelves for generations of pupils to enjoy.

Kind regards,

Miss Heather Windley, Miss Megan Jones and Mrs Rachael Ball
