January News and Dates for 2026

What A Great Start to 2026 - learning outdoors, whatever the weather!

The children have had a great start to the New Year in School, and we look forward to many great things. One thing is for sure; we love being in school with our pupils!

A few key messages from us

Parking

Thank you to everyone who parks sensibly and safely before and after school. Unfortunately, we have one or two people who have been parking in very unsafe places including on double yellow lines, zigzags and also double-parking to block the road. This is obviously very dangerous. Please think of our children and park in the right place.

School start and finish time

The start and end of the school day works very smoothly, and school gates will continue open at 8.45am and close at 8.55am in the morning with pick up time at 3.30pm. Our staff really value being able to greet you and the children at the front of school every day.

Break time snacks

To encourage healthy eating throughout the day we would like to share with you the following guidance for break time snacks at school.

•             Any variety of raw fruit and vegetables, Cheese portions, fromage frais/ yoghurt, bread sticks

Children should not have the following as morning snacks in school:

•             Fizzy or sugary drinks, chocolate, sweets, nuts of any description (due to allergies in school), crisps, pastries

Update your details/ reporting absences

Could you please ensure that our office has your latest contact details? It is fantastic to have the technology to contact parents immediately in the case of school closure or to discuss the children’s education and well being. However, this does depend on us having your latest address, phone and email details.

Absence If your child is absent from school, could you please report this to school by 9:30am. Please note that you can do this by leaving a message on our designated absence line, which is operational 24/7, sending an email, or via our website whichever is easier for you.

Uniform and PE kits

It’s great to see the children back looking so smart for the new year. We would like to remind everyone that trainers are not part of normal school uniform. Children do need their full PE kits in school at all times

Cold Weather: School Closure and Clothing

Previous winters have proved that it is always good to be prepared for extreme weather! In the event of severe weather conditions which you suspect could result in the closure of the school, please tune in to BBC Radio Lincolnshire between 5:30am and 11:00pm Monday to Friday on 94.9FM or to Lincs FM 102.2.

Obviously, staff will make every effort to arrive at school in poor weather conditions, but in the event of the school being under-staffed or there being a heating failure, we would have to close the school, and this will be announced on BBC Radio Lincolnshire and Greatest Hits Radio (Lincolnshire).  We will also place a notice to this effect on our website and contact families through our email and text message service.

Should the school be open, and your children are unable to attend, we ask that you contact us and inform us of this in the normal absence manner. At the same time, if the children do come to school and there is snow on the playground, we will let them out at break if they are correctly dressed in warm clothes and boots/ strong shoes for outside with another pair of shoes/ trainers to wear in school. Please ensure all footwear is named; a carrier bag for wet footwear is also very helpful.

Sports success on the horizon (again!)

We have a very busy term ahead with sport including:

Our Cross-Country teams beginning their challenge to once more challenge for individual and team titles in the league of more than twenty schools. We also look forward to inter-school swimming and indoor athletics competitions.

The continued expansion of a wide range of extra-curricular activities and clubs to promote physical well-being.

Yours

David Gibbons

Headteacher
